Uses for Pine Logs

As prolific timber suppliers since 1979, we have seen a lot of trends come and go. One product that has never really been trendy but is gaining some popularity, though, is pine logs.

Our pine logs are treated with CCA, which protects them from termites and other insects. They are safe for most construction applications, but if you are using them for vineyard trellises, children’s playground equipment or other applications where the chemical treatment could be harmful, we can order untreated logs.

Pine logs are great for landscaping applications such as garden edging or retaining walls. They are also good for fencing or signs. However, we think one of the best and most underrated uses for pine logs is log cabins.

Log Cabins

Log cabins can be built in many sizes. Some people even opt to build their homes out of logs. Logs are a great insulator and are structurally sound. They also look great and have a timeless aesthetic to them which always adds value when they are put on the market for sale.

Since the new R-codes went into effect, we have seen more people choosing to build log cabin granny flats on their property. This is a great way to increase the value of a property and add some rental income to help with mortgage repayments.

Remember, though: any log cabin you build as a living space is subject to strict regulations and codes. If you are going the DIY route, it is especially important to make sure that you are not violating any regulations or building codes.

You can also make a log cabin shed. These are not regulated as stringently as living quarters, but it is still important to check with your local council to ensure that you are compliant with all regulations. Log cabins make great sheds because of their insulative properties.
